Tankmax

// not from the old books. showed up later. incidents followed.

the legend

Broad. Takes his time. Usually somewhere between his second and fourth Leps of the day. People started mentioning him in the latter half of the 20th century — not the way you'd tell a fairytale, more like the way you describe what you saw by the lake at six in the morning and aren't quite sure how to file it.

Nobody's got a photo. Several people have tried.

the sightings

Harvest season, around the Kolterer Sea. Always early morning or dusk. Always alone. You look again and he's gone — not like he ran, just gone.

The accounts agree on the things that matter and disagree on the rest in ways that suggest people aren't copying each other. That's the test.

the incidents

Law enforcement vehicles turning up in places they shouldn't be. Official paperwork rearranged so everything's technically still there but nothing works. Leps left in places where there's no innocent reason for Leps to be.

Law enforcement doesn't believe in Tankmax. The Herrgottskinder have noticed this hasn't stopped anything — especially around certain dates that don't officially exist.

the Leps question

Far as anyone knows, he's the last person in Koltern still making LepsTrester from Vernatsch, sourced during harvest. Whether that's loyalty to tradition or just very low standards, someone asked him once.

Their bike was on the roof of the post office the next morning. The question hasn't come up again.
